Gorgeous Festival Cancelled A Month Out Due To Poor Ticket Sales

In news that has become all too common these days, another Australian festival has been cancelled, as organisers of South Australia’s Gorgeous Festival have had to call it quits to poor ticket sales.

Explaining via a post to the festival Facebook page, organisers said that “early ticket sales were not of a level sufficient to finance the Festival we aspired to.”

Elaborating further, they made clear that this wasn’t a snap decision, and that “while we investigated the feasibility of scaling things back we did not want to hold something unworthy of the name Gorgeous Festival.”

Ticketholders will all be issued with a refund, although the organisers did ask for punters to be understanding that it may take until the early December for the payments to be put through. “We really would appreciate your support in being patient so everyone can get their refund,” they said.

Going into more detail the organisers explained that “funds are presently tied up within the festival company with deposits and so forth and can be released back once the planned festival date has passed, so at the latest refunds will be made in the first week of December.”

The event was to play host this year to the likes of Kate Miller Heidke, Stonefield and Montaigne. With no word yet regarding any future ventures for organisers, you can read their full statement from promoters Sally and Alistair Cranney here below.

Funds are presently tied up within the festival company with deposits and so forth and can be released back once the planned festival date has passed, so at the latest refunds will be made in the first week of December.
