Grace Before Meals at The Vanguard

Grace Before Meals are a highly productive and ever shifting project of music and art. In their relatively short life (formed just over one year ago) they have toured Europe and China, released a double EP, launched it at The Vanguard in Sydney and made two film clips.

Their international tour of conventional and underground venues saw them playing at festivals in old crumbling castles in Italy, grand stone churches in Holland and extensive travel through urban and rural environments in China, Italy, Germany, and Copenhagen.

This tour saw Grace Before Meals playing with innovative performers such as Bob Rutman (collaborator with Einsturzende Neubauten and Wim Wenders) and at such notable occasions as the 5 day Itinerario Festival of Music, Art, Landscape, Performance and Architecture at the Malatesta Fortress, built in 1330.

Now, it’s time for Grace Before Meals to play again in their hometown.

The members of Grace Before Meals run a warehouse venue/exhibition space called The Cad Factory which is helping to reshape the fractured opportunities to present music in Sydney. They are also establishing a rural artist residency program in Narrandera NSW and recently been awarded the Innovation Award at the Townsville Strand Ephemera Festival for their sound installation “Listen, Now Walk” which travelled for 100’s of meters along Townsville’s foreshore.
