Cadet, a UK grime artist on the rise, has tragically died in a car accident en route to a gig.
The 28-year-old rapper, real name Blaine Cameron Johnson, was reportedly traveling in a taxi on the way to a show at Keele University in Staffordshire when as a nasty collision occurred and he died at the scene.
The tragic news was announced by Johnson’s family via Instagram. Their statement reads:
“We The Family of Blaine Cameron Johnson otherwise known as Cadet…would like to share the sad news that during the early hours of 9th February 2019 he passed away as a passenger in a taxi, en route to a performance.
“Right now we the family appreciate your patience and we will share with you any information as and when we can.”
Cadet regularly appeared on BBC Radio 1Xtra and was due to perform at the UK’s Wireless Festival later this year.
