American indie rockers Guided By Voices have announced, for the second time in their tenure, that they are breaking up. The band broke the news on their website and cancelled all of the dates on their upcoming US tour.

“Guided By Voices has come to an end,” reads the band’s statement. “With 4 years of great shows and six killer albums, it was a hell of a comeback run. The remaining shows in the next two months are unfortunately canceled. Our sincere apologies to those that have purchased tickets and made travel plans. Thanks to everyone who has supported GBV.”

The band, led by creative force Robert Pollard, previously split up in 2004, going out with a farewell tour. Reports Rolling Stone, in 2010 Guided By Voices reunited its “classic ’93 – ’96 lineup” for a run of shows and in January 2012 they released the comeback album Let’s Go Eat The Factory.

That led to the release of another 5 LPs in just over two years, their latest, Cool Planet, is the band’s 22nd album. The last few years have not been without their dramatic turns however. Just last year, the band’s drummer Kevin Fennell was let go after he attempted to sell his drum kit on eBay for $55,000.
