Big news on the music and gaming front today – with the company behind Guitar Hero pulling the plug on one of the largest selling games of the new century.
Activision Blizzard Inc, which also produces the Call of Duty series, is ending the Guitar Hero franchise after a run of nearly six years.
Due to financial reasons and the ‘weakness in the music genre’ which really translates to the inability of games’ makers to drum up interest for the products, gamers will say good bye to this iconic game.
While we at MusicFeeds can see why musical games often retail as more expensive than your shoot-em up games as they require additional add on’s – microphones, guitars and other musical instruments. There is revenue raising loop hole of buying more songs, it isn’t enough to keep the games profitable.
A sad day in gaming and music.
