Hackers Target Sonic Youth Fans With Fake Reunion Announcement As Troll Spree Continues

Hackers are continuing to play silly buggers with the Twitter accounts of musicians and celebrities, in a diabolical bid to fuck with all of our emotions.

Over the past several days, they’ve (among other things) infiltrated the accounts of Tenacious D to announce the (totally fake) death of Jack Black and Tame Impala to send bomb threats to an airline.

And now, they’ve turned their troll canons on Sonic Youth fans by hacking the band’s Twitter to announce a surprise “reunion show”, as well as plans for further shows.

The veteran US rock band have been split since 2011, so of course fans’ hearts were royally shat upon when the announcement turned out to be utter BS.

As well as announcing the bogus reunion, the hackers also changed Sonic Youth’s account name to “Max Guerin” for some reason and tweeted “get cancer” at someone (screenshots below).

NO ONE IS SAFE.
