Hatchie Announces New Album ‘Giving The World Away’, Shares New Song

Hatchie has announced her second album, Giving the World Away, with the follow-up to 2019’s Keepsake set to arrive on Friday, 22nd April via Ivy League in Australia.

“I’m capable of writing more than just nice dream-pop songs, and there’s more to me than just writing songs about being in love or being heartbroken — there’s a bigger picture than that,” the singer-songwriter, real name Harriette Pilbeam, said in a statement.

“This album really just feels like the beginning to me, and scratching the surface — and even though it’s my third release as Hatchie, I feel like I’m rebooting from scratch.”

To coincide with the announcement, Pilbeam has shared new single ‘Quicksand’, co-written with Olivia Rodrigo collaborator Dan Nigro. It’s something of a departure from the lush shoegaze Pilbeam’s music has largely been situated within. Instead, it’s a soaring, groove-heavy slice of cinematic pop – and one of her finest songs yet.

It’s the second song to be released from Giving the World Away thus far, after Pilbeam returned with ‘This Enchanted’ back in September of last year along with the news that she’d signed a deal with US label Secretly Canadian, who are releasing Giving the World Away internationally.

‘Quicksand’ arrives alongside a video directed by Nathan Castiel. Check that out below.
