Having already dropped his sensual debut solo single Aerial Love, former Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns has returned with another new track taken from his forthcoming solo EP. Titled Preach, the new song follows in the modern pop footprints of its predecessor.
Johns says he’s very pleased with how Preach (below) came together. “I’m prouder of it than anything I’ve ever written”, he says in a press release. “The [Aerial Love] EP is not a single plus three bonus tracks – it’s four songs designed to be heard as a complete piece of work.”
Preach was co-written and co-produced by Aussie electronic/hip hop duo Damn Moroda, and sees Johns’ high-register vocals sit atop repeating piano chords and some deep electronic beats, rising into a more self-confident, uplifting chorus.
Johns recently explained the almost 8-year gap between Silverchair’s last studio album and his solo work, saying he needed to spend time away, honing his craft.
Preach is available to stream in full, below. Daniel Johns’ Aerial Love EP is due for release on Friday, 13th March, and will preface his still untitled debut solo album.
