Many fans of the cult comedy series Community were shocked to learn that air-conditioning repair wunderkind and loveable goofball Troy Barnes had, IRL, a very serious rap career under the name of Childish Gambino.
And then their shock turned to despair when Troy aka Donald Glover left the series to focus on said rap career.
But now, Glover has hatched a plan to marry his love of acting with his love of rap, via a new TV series entitled Atlanta.
Childish Gambino aka Troy Barnes aka Donald Glover will return to the small screen this Aussie winter in the 10-episode series, which he produces, writes and stars in.
Atlanta revolves around the character of Earnest “Earn” Marks (played by Glover), who returns to the Georgian capital after failing to become a rap star. And that’s a bit awkward, because his cousin just became the hottest new rapper in the city.
The show also co-stars Straight Outa Compton‘s Keith Stanfield, as well as Isiah Whitlock Jr., Brian Tyree Henry and Zazie Beetz.
