Hozier Announces Australian Headline Shows

Irish singer-songwriter Andrew Hozier-Byrne, better known as Hozier, has locked in two Bluesfest 2015 sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne to take place in March, prior to his appearance at the festival in early April.

24-year-old Hozier released his debut EP Take Me To Church in 2013, bolstered by his breakout Grammy-nominated single of the same name. Since then, he’s released his second EP, From Eden, and his debut self-titled studio album.

Thanks to Hozier’s range of musical influences, which include the likes of Blind Willie Johnson, Pink Floyd, Nina Simone and Tom Waits, lyrics have become the centrepiece of his musical output.

“For me, [lyrics] are one of, if not the most, important factors in a song. That’s where the story is, and where the writer is, or should be,” Hozier says in a press release.

“Lyrics are still the thing I take the longest over in my own songs, and work the hardest at – and care the most about. And also the thing I feel the most self-conscious about; you know, ‘Am I saying something worthwhile here?’”

Hozier and his band are set to perform at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Saturday, 28th March and Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Monday, 30th March. The Sydney performance will be an all-ages show. Ticket details available below.
