Husky Announce New Album ‘Stardust Blues’, Share New Single And Announce Shows

Melbourne four-piece Husky have announced new album Stardust Blues will be released on Friday, 12th June through Ditto Music.

To coincide with the announcement, the indie-pop group have shared new single ‘Cut Myself Loose’. It’s a lush, atmospheric track that sees Husky Gawenda’s vocals float sweetly over the top of a repeated piano line.

Stardust Blues was written at their home, The Westbury Hotel, which Gawnda describes as “an old 1920s mansion that served as a kind of artist commune and a home to us and other artists from 2014-2019.” While recording the album, the Westbury was demolished to make way for a new block of apartments.

“The album is about the new life that comes after the death of things, the light that comes out at the end of a long light.”

“We finished Stardust Blues just as the time came to leave the Hotel but as we left, we converted the place into one big ephemeral work of art – we painted and covered the walls in scribbled out dreams, we had parties with art installations and music and while all this was happening we recorded live versions of some of the songs from the new record. Even as the place was being demolished, we were recording and filming.”

The band have announced a pair of single launch shows for ‘Cut Myself Loose’ for May – the first on Friday, 1st at the Gastometer in Melbourne and then another the following night at Waywards in Sydney.
