Iggy Pop To Play Dying Ex Rockstar In New Thriller Blood Orange

In case Post Pop Depression his recent collaborative album with Josh Homme wasn’t enough Iggy Pop goodness for you, you’re in luck as the iconic rocker has just been revealed to be starring in the upcoming thriller Blood Orange, where he is playing a dying ex-rocker who has to protect his wife from a vengeful ex.

His character is named Bill, with Pop acting alongside Kacey Barnfield as his wife Isabelle. Opening with the couple living together in the Spanish countryside, their domestic bliss is interrupted when Isabelle’s ex Lucas (Ben Lamb) arrives at their home demanding money he claims she stole from him.

Rather than pursuing things in a rational manner Lucas then proceeds to get ever more threatening, with Bill eventually having to take up arms himself to defend himself and his wife, despite Lucas’ attempts to sow discord between them.

The trailer teasing stylish sets and cinematography and a charming if slightly wooden performance from Iggy this looks to be a must see for any fans out there, the movie sitting somewhere between Wild Things and Sexy Beast.

Currently in independent distribution in Europe there is no word yet on an Australian release. You can find out more about the film directed by Toby Tobias here.

Check out the full trailer below which sees Iggy delivering a dry monologue via voice over as he generally just looks haggard AF.
