They launched the series in light of the COVID-19 pandemic to offer some comfort as live shows were getting axed. Third Man Records saw the live HQ performances as a way to showcase its artists to fans during the crisis.
However, as the pandemic escalated, it was no longer viable to continue hosting artists’ performances from their label, especially full bands. So, they’re now relaunching the series as an “at home” edition.
It’ll be full of livestreamed performances from artists’ homes along with music videos, readings, and more.
“We’re attempting to capture the lunacy and creativity of this incredibly unique time and present it through an early MTV meets late-night UHF psychedelic experience. Join us, while we laugh through the tears in the rain… Fuck Trump,” said Third Man Records co-founder Ben Swank.
The latest ep from the Third Man Public Access series sees Olivia Jean and J Mascis perform in their homes as well as showcases from Kelley Stoltz, Redd Kross, Dale Crover and Luke Schneider.
Ben Myers offers up a reading from his own The Gallows Pole and Shadow Show educates viewers on the demo recording process.
Third Man Records will be publishing new episodes in the coming weeks on Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
