Kasabian Share ‘ALYGATYR’, Their First Single Since Departure of Ex-Frontman Tom Meighan

British rockers Kasabian have shared their first song since former frontman Tom Meighan’s dismissal from the band last year. ‘ALYGATYR’ is a characteristically energetic, fuzzed-out cut that sees founding guitarist Sergio Pizzorno assume lead vocal duties.

‘ALYGATYR’ also marks the band’s first since in some four years, following on from 2017 album For Crying Out Loud. It’s unclear at this stage whether the single is standalone or part of a larger body of work. Last year, prior to his exit from the group, Meighan commented that the band had been working on new music and working towards making a new record.

The new single comes after the band debuted their new lineup earlier this month with a UK tour. Pizzorno has assumed all lead vocal duties, with touring guitarist Tim Carter now a full-time band member. They’ve also been joined on the run by The Music’s Robert Harvey as a touring member.

Kasabian announced Meighan’s departure from the band in July of 2022, citing “personal issues that have affected his behaviour for quite some time”. Less than 24 hours later, the singer plead guilty to having assaulted his fiancée three months earlier. He was sentenced to community service.
