Katie Noonan and Karin Schaupp To Tour

Former George singer Katie Noonan is teaming up with acclaimed Australian guitarist Karin Schaupp for a tour of Eastern Australia this autumn.

Noonan, whose most recent album was Emperor’s Box as Katie Noonan and the Captains, has known Schaupp for some time and a tour has been in the pipeline for a while. Schaupp, born in Germany, has emerged as one of Australia’s premier classical guitarists and has performed all over the world.

Schaupp said, “For years we’ve been saying ‘We must do something together one day’ and finally we found the time to make it happen!  I am delighted to be collaborating with Katie – her voice is absolutely unique and she is a brilliant musician. The combination of voice and guitar is very intimate but also very versatile.”

Interestingly, the pair will play a selection of British and Celtic music from artists such as Nick Drake, Vaughan-Williams, Britten, Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush.

Noonan added, “This concert will be a chance for me to rediscover the Celtic music I grew up around, the classical music I fell in love with when I discovered singing as a child, and the pop music that has informed my voice as a songwriter in more recent years. The British Isles are blessed with such a rich history of wonderful music making and I am looking forward to sharing some of it with Karin and our audiences!”
