King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Have Cancelled Their NYE Festival Timeland

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have cancelled their upcoming Timeland festival, citing the potential negative health effect of the rising Covid-19 cases in Victoria as the cause of the cancellation.

The festival, which was due to take place in the regional Victorian town of Tallaran, has been called off just three days out from the festival. Naturally, the band are saddened at their tough decision, however, they have acknowledged that in the face of the current health crisis, it’s the right thing to do.

“It is with great sadness that we announce today that BOOGIE PRESENTS KING GIZZARD’S TIMELAND is cancelling,” the band wrote in an email sent out to ticketholders. “The event planned for Our Friend’s Farm in Tallarook in Victoria will no longer take place.”

“We do not feel it is safe for artists, crew and staff, vendors and ticket buyers to perform, work, service and attend without a significant risk to either their personal health or those they come into contact with, and their immediate future for life, work and travel post event.”

They continued:

“The risk of ticketed buyers, staff and artists being contacted prior to, and during the event as a close or casual contact and having to isolate by not attending or leaving the site, as well as anyone testing positive and not being able to attend the event just bring up too many complexities for the event to continue.”

All ticketholders will have their tickets refunded beginning today.

Despite the news, the band have promised ticketholders the opportunity to gain access to an exclusive pre-sale for the band’s farewell show which is due to take place in Melbourne early next year. This will be their final Australian show until 2023.

The festival was due to host performances from King Gizz themselves, as well as Harvey Sutherland (Live), Grace Cummings & Her Band, Gordan Koang, Stonefield, Ajak Kwai, MOD CON, Nice Biscuit, Big Yawn & E Bobby G.
