Following on from the reissue of their first three albums earlier this year, the British greats the Kinks are to reissue three more on June 13 (US).
The albums in question this time are 1966’s Face To Face, 1967’s Something Else and 1969’s Arthur (Or The Decline and Fall of the British Empire). As Pitchfork reports, the reissues come through Hip-O-Select/Sanctuary and as ever, feature an array of new trimmings and extra features.
The new packages will include both mono and stereo mixes, BBC sessions and interviews all remastered by esteemed Kinksologist Andrew Sandoval. There will also be rare photos.
Kinks frontman Ray Davies is currently gearing up to curate London’s Meltdown Festival at the Royal Festival Hall in June. He has chosen Yo La Tengo, Wire, the Sonics, Nick Lowe, Madness, Anna Calvi, Current 93, and Lydia Lunch to perform.
And any current Kinks story would be incomplete without, as previously reported by this organ, the confusing dialogue between Davies and brother Dave regarding a possible Kinks reunion. One possibility floated has been that the two feuding brothers may reunite onstage at Meltdown.
And finally in other Kinks news, Jack White is reportedly in talks to record the music for a film version of their 1975 concept album, Schoolboys In Disgrace.
