Kooii To Play Sydney Shows In November

Kooii, one of Brisbane’s hottest acts, are preparing to bring their compelling fusion of Afrobeat, reggae and jazz to Sydney, their first visit in over six years.

The soulful voice of Peter Hunt carries a timeless quality that resonates with music lovers of all ages and genres. Over the last eight years, their unmistakable sound and style has earned them a glowing reputation, both through recordings and in the live arena.

It will be the first opportunity for Sydney-siders to relish live performances of material from Kooii’s latest album In This Life.

Released late last year, it is a superbly crafted album that captures the cutting edge sound of this world-class outfit. It’s received plenty of praise since its release, featuring as Radio Australia’s Album of the Week as well as regular rotation on triple j’s Roots’n’All program.

Last month, their song One Step won Blues/Roots – Song of the Year at the Queensland Music Awards.

The same song won over Mat McHugh (singer of the Beautiful Girls) as he revealed in an interview with AIR (Australian Independent Record Label Accos.) last year. On the topic of favourite Australian song he stated, “One Step is seriously amazing. I’m jealous of how well the guy sings. Our bass player Paulie B produced it and it’s my favourite thing I’ve heard all year.”
