La Dispute have announced their only five shows for the remainder of 2024 globally – which will include a return to Australia to perform at the UNSW Roundhouse in Sydney. The show is set to take place on Friday November 22nd, 2024, and is the only Australian date the band will play. Tickets for the show will be available from 10am AEDT on Friday March 22nd via Moshtix.
Other cities with exclusive performances from the band include London, Amsterdam, Berlin and the band’s hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan. These five shows are taking place to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the band’s third studio album, 2014’s Rooms of the House. The band intend to play the album in full at the shows, as well as selections from their back catalogue.
La Dispute – ‘For Mayor in Splitsville’
In a post shared to the band’s newsletter and its social media, frontman Jordan Dreyer explained that the reasoning behind only doing five Rooms of the House anniversary shows came down to three key reasons.
“[It’s] partly because we’re writing [a new album] and need time to do so, partly because we didn’t want to do two anniversary runs back-to-back, and partly because there’s something special about limiting it,” he wrote. “Like punctuation marks at the end of a chapter’s last paragraph – in this case exclamation marks – rather than dwelling on the whole chapter again.”
La Dispute were last in Australia in August 2023, belatedly commemorating the 10-year anniversary of their second studio album Wildlife from 2011. They have been touring Australia consistently since 2009, when they were brought out to Australia for a completely DIY tour with Brisbane band To The North that was booked over MySpace.
