Liam Gallagher has topped an XFM poll of fans’ favourite frontman of all time. The ex-Oasis musician, who now fronts Beady Eyes with some of his old bandmates, claims he ‘knew it anyway’.
His number one spot saw him beat Foo Fighter’s Dave Grohl, Muse’s Matt Bellamy and Nirvana legend Kurt Cobain.
When XFM’s Steve Harris called to congratulate him on his win, Gallagher responded in his usual manner.
“Greatest frontman? I knew that anyway! There’s not many of us about. There are a lot of pretenders out there. But I’d like to thank everybody for voting and stuff. Nice one! It’s always been about the vocal for me, man. If you’re a good looking fucker like me, you’ve got to be down the front, haven’t you?”
Gallagher beat runner up, Freddie Mercury in a landslide of two votes to one.
