Canadian outfit Metric have recently released their new single Youth Without Youth, taken from their forthcoming new studio album Synthetica, which is due for release on June 15.
Youth Without Youth tackles the topic of a fraying social state with bristling energy, as a lyrical complexity and a momentary breakdown guaranteed to get crowds jumping along with the song’s driving rhythm.
Metric guitarist Jimmy Shaw comments on the track saying, “I’ve always wanted to do a song with the Gary Glitter beat”. It was Shaw who also produced Synthetica at the band’s own Giant Studios in Toronto and at the famous Electric Lady Studios in New York City, where it was mixed by long-time collaborator, John O’Mahony.
Metric will be out in Australia this July, touring on the back of their appearance on the Splendour in the Grass 2012 lineup as well as playing their own sideshows in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.
