Straight out of Perth comes a band that combines the chilled, groovy beats of hip hop with the electro-indie elements most bands strive for. Shy Panther is their name, and they’re ready to party. Their music evokes such a unique sound that it’s actually somewhat hard to describe. Having recently released their single Erving, the band has been welcomed by loveable crowds across the country. From festival slots at Groovin’ the Moo to selling out their single launch, big things are expected from these kids.
Speaking out about their new single, the band described it as “a song that hung around, and breathed down our neck like a smelly shadow for quite some time before it all fell into place; ‘Erving’ finally blossomed on the day of an unexpected and damn cool storm. It was very kind of Mother Nature to lend her hands to this track!”
“Lyrically, the crux of the track is also fairly ambiguous, based on a fictitiously non-fiction short story that Dan painted in his head years ago, so there is a pretty great sentiment attached to the track for him. The track wears a pretty crazy, colourful, intriguing disguise, which allows it to get away with shit, like how a masked burglar gets away with theft.”
Having scored a slot at this year’s Parklife Festival, the band are beginning to make waves, and within a year or so will be bringing their chilled-out vibes to you.
