Loon Lake Are Breaking Up, But Not Before One Last Tour And Album

Written by Emmy Mack on August 18, 2015

The dream is over for Loon Lake, with the band announcing their decision to officially call it quits.

That’s the bad news.

But the good news is that the Melbourne indie rockers will embark on one final tour before hanging up their guitars, and they’ve even got a new album to boot.

The fivesome broke the heavy news to their fans in a lengthy Facebook statement today which reads, in part:

“There is no fall out, no drama here, It’s just over and it was fun while it lasted. We are very, very proud of what we have achieved over the last 6 years, to be honest, we never really set out to achieve anything except have a bit of fun, but even in our wildest dreams, we couldn’t imagine it would be this fun.

“Loon Lake isn’t breaking up, we are just winding up. We are all still best mates and that wont change. Our reasons are simply that we feel like we may have run our course, we probably won’t ever be much more than we are and with everyone doing different things, living in different places, it’s pretty hard to keep it going.”

The announcement follows a recent lineup reshuffle, after several founding members departed the band.

And to say a proper smell-ya-later, the fellas will embark on their Final Wave tour this October and November, playing seven dates across Perth, Adelaide, Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, before bringing it home to their native stomping ground of Melbourne.

In a piece of tragic irony, Loon Lake have actually been busy recording and producing their sophomore album, which they actually reckon is their strongest collection of tracks in years. The second single from the forthcoming disc, Just Now (below), is currently making the airwaves its bitch.

As a special pick-me-up for their no doubt heartbroken fans, those who pre-buy tickets to the tour will get a sneaky download of the album in late September.
