Major Lazer Planning November Australian Tour

Electronic dancehall outfit Major Lazer are planning to bring their latest album to Australia later this year, that’s according to one third of the project, Diplo.

Speaking to triple j this morning, Diplo revealed he and his Major Lazer bandmates Jillionaire and Walshy Fire are eyeing November for an Australian tour to showcase their latest album Peace Is The Mission.

“We have a big show lined up, I think, for November,” he said of Major Lazer’s Australian tour plans. The Australian visit would come after months of the outfit touring through North America and Europe. They were last in Australia for the 2014 Big Day Out.

Peace Is The Mission features a slew of collaborators including MØ & DJ Snake, Ellie Goulding, Pusha T and Ariana Grande, and Diplo said that while it’s “too hard to bring all the acts on tour” they will “try and do some special stuff every once in a while.”

Diplo also reiterated his previous promise that Major Lazer will release another record later this year. “I think in six months we hope to release another [album] because we have so much material and we just want to keep it going strong.”

Peace Is The Mission follows-up 2013’s Free the Universe and last year’s Apocalypse Soon EP. This year’s second Major Lazer release will feature a collab with No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani and possibly also Iggy Azalea, who Diplo said has recorded some demos for the record.
