Mashd N Kutcher Join Forces With Illy For New Single ‘I’ll Be Fine’

Viral Queensland electronic duo Mashd N Kutcher have unveiled their first new single of 2022, teaming up with Melbourne hip-hop mainstay Illy for their latest track, ‘I’ll Be Fine’.

Traditionally regarded for their blending of deep house electronica and club-ready anthems (and often with a humorous lean), ‘I’ll Be Fine’ sees the pair pivoting slightly, recruiting Illy for some bold guest vocals that promotes a serious message of positive energy. As such, the track utilises a more subtle acoustic introduction before switching into the trademark Mashd N Kutcher sound for a resonant, uplifting chorus.

“Was stoked to write this one for me mates Mashd N Kutcher,” Illy shared of the collaboration on a Facebook post. “Speaking for myself, as someone who absolutely loves to get on the beers, it was a natural fit.”

Officially released today following a premiere on triple j overnight, ‘I’ll Be Fine’ serves as the first new single of 2022 for both Mashd N Kutcher and Illy, and follows on from the release of the former’s ‘On My Mind’ in October, which itself heavily samples Powderfinger’s 2003 single, ‘(Baby I’ve Got You) On My Mind’.

In turn, the arrival of ‘I’ll Be Fine’ also comes just weeks after Mashd N Kutcher’s 2020 viral hit, ‘Get On The Beers’, was overlooked at the 2022 APRA Awards in the category of Most Performed Dance/Electronic Work.
