Metallica And Vans Design Sweet Signature Half-Cab Kicks

The model of shoe made famous by Bones Brigade member Steve Caballero all those years ago has been attached to many bands and artists for signature models. But this latest collaboration is probably the most metal the shoe has been yet.

In celebration of their 20th anniversary since the first Half-Cab was ever made, Vans has teamed up with Metallica for The Vans x Metallica 20th Anniversary Half Cab Pro. The kicks themselves mimic the album art of Kill ‘Em All and also have two lines from the track Motorbreath stitched onto the sides, ‘Those people who tell you not to take chances” / “They are all missing on what life’s all about’, as well as other markings from Steve Caballero, Metallica and Vans.

It appears that this is also just the start. Come 2013, fans will be able to choose between 4 different designs from each of the 4 members. The partnership will roll over into the next year and continue to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of Kill ‘Em All. Those designs will be available in both the classic Vans slip-on and the SK8-Hi, according to Henne Music.

Metallica’s Robert Trujillo said of the collaboration, “I’ve been wearing Vans on stage my whole freakin’ career (and way before that!). “Whether I’m walking the streets of Venice or San Francisco, Vans provides the funk in my stride!”

Cab himself also seems pretty chuffed on the new spin on his classic model: “To have Metallica, my all-time favorite metal band, collaborating with me on this 20th-anniversary Half Cab shoe is an honor and a dream come true…I’m very stoked that Vans is working with such a legendary band and the Half Cab is just the beginning.”

The kicks are available now through Metallica’s website in an array of sizes. Check ’em out!
