Metallica To Livestream Huge 40th Anniversary Shows Via Amazon

It’s hard to believe that after 40 years Metallica is still performing with the ferocity and hunger that earmarked them as the next big thing back in ’83.

However, the perennial metal titans aren’t immune to celebrating the occasional milestone, with livestream celebrations via Amazon to mark their ascension to the big 4-0, in the band’s typical ‘no nostalgia’ way.

The band will be broadcasting their two 40th anniversary shows, penciled in for December 17th and 19th at The Chase Centre in San Fransisco, with broadcasts of the show beginning on Amazon Prime from 9:00 pm Pacific Time for each performance (3 pm AEST).

In addition to the concerts, a collection of the bands previously released live DVD’s, including the cult classic Cunning Stunts, will be streamed as part of the SF Takeover Film Fest, while fans in San Fransisco have a collection of other special events to choose from, including signings, club shows, and gallery displays.

For the Metallica faithful, the Chase Centre shows should be well worth the time, with the band’s 30th anniversary shows 10 years ago awash with deep cuts and onstage reunions (including with both Jason Newsteadand Dave Mustaine). Check out the highlights from said celebrations below.
