Middle Kids Announce New ‘Mini-Album’, Drop New Song ‘Real Thing’

Sydney alt-rock angels Middle Kids have announced they have a new ‘mini-album’ on the way, New Songs For Old Problems.

To celebrate, they’ve blessed us with a new track ‘Real Thing’ along with a super indie film clip.

Singing ‘Don’t it ever make you feel sad/Is this is the real thing’, the band’s front Hannah says of the track, “‘Real Thing’ is the lifelong quest for meaning.

“The quiet, persistent voice in the stillness that constantly checks to see if you truly think you’ve found the thing you’re looking for.”

The film clip, directed by Marie Pangaud, follows the narrative of a relationship with a bit of overlay of the trio doing a live performance.

New Songs For Old Problems was recorded at Middle Kids’ own studio and produced by their own Tim Fitz.

If the mini-album’s tracklisting is telling us anything at all with titles like: ‘Call Me Snowflake’ and ‘Big Softy’, it’s that we need to prepare to feel.

Middle Kids kick off their ‘Real Thing’ National Tour next week.

New Songs For Old Problems is out Friday, 24th May.
