MONA FOMA 2015 Lineup Announced

Hobart’s Museum of Old and New Art Festival of Music and Art returns to Tasmania in 2015 and the MOFO (MONA FOMA) 2015 festival is sailing back in with a lineup that’s more eclectic than ever, including New York post-punk rockers Swans, seminal J-pop riot grrrls Shonen Knife and DIY Brechtian cabaret punk Amanda Palmer, performing with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.

The seventh instalment of the event will be curated by the Violent Femmes‘ Brian Ritchie. The lineup also includes Australian icon Paul Kelly who will present his Merri Soul Sessions featuring Dan Sultan, Clairy Browne, Kira Puru & Vika and Linda Bull, plus Baltimore beats provided by the one and only Dan Deacon.

The eclectic bill also promises a floating performance on the Derwent River from American composer Alvin Curran, Swedish black metal-heads Marduk, Chinese performance artist Li Binyuan smashing 250 hammers, Midnight Oil‘s Jim Moginie who will present an electric guitar orchestra and a performance from indie pop outfit Zammuto with special guest Gotye.

MOFO 2015 will run from Thursday, 15th January till Sunday, 18th January, but celebrations will kick off even earlier with the previously announced MOFO Sideshow on New Year’s Day at MONA on the outdoor stage, with Violent Femmes, Augie March and Ben Salter.

“We are thrilled that the audience for MOFO has developed to the point where we can present this dazzling array of creativity and know the people are ready, willing and able to come along for the ride. It’s a party with brains, heart and soul,” said Brian Ritchie.
