One of music’s most legendary and influential figures, Prince, has died at his home in Minnesota, aged 57.
While the exact cause of death at this stage is unknown, according to a Carver County Sheriff’s Office statement, Prince was found unresponsive in an elevator at his Paisley Park home, also his studio compound.

“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57,” his publicist said in a statement. “There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time.”
This comes just a week after Prince was hospitalised with what was reported as a bad case of the flu, although Prince made light of his hospital stay after the scare. An investigation is now underway the Paisley Park complex.
The Grammy and Oscar winning musician is regarded as one of music’s most enduring and influential artists, his 1984 album Purple Rain often described as one of the greatest of all time.
He was recently in Australia playing a series of Piano and a Microphone tour, to high acclaim.
RIP to one of music’s greats.
UPDATE: TMZ have reported that prince was treated for a drug overdose just days before his death.
