Jerk move: Taking legal action against your former bandmates.
Case in point: Queensrÿche – the reformed ’80s metal band fired the singer’s wife from managing the band, which wound up in an on-stage punch-on. There are now two versions of the band who are suing each other for use of the name.
The right way: Flag/Black Flag. Look, there may be more tensions than an abseiling party here but at least 1 of the 2 reformed versions of Black Flag had the decency to say, “OK, you’ve already got the name – we’ll change ours.” And – surprise – that’s the version that’s earned a lot more respect and goodwill from the fans.
