Former My Chemical Romance guitarist Ray Toro has posted a new track by the name of Isn’t That Something on his SoundCloud. As multi-instrumental Toro explained in a related tweet, he played every instrument, sang, recorded and mixed the new song all by himself.
As for the sound of Toro’s solo work; Isn’t That Something is a high-energy burst of power pop. The chorus is a catchy, simple anthem that hardly lets up, testing fans’ endurance for a little over 3 minutes.
It was about 2 months ago that My Chemical Romance shocked fans by announced the band had broken up after 12 years. Since the band’s split, Toro’s former bandmate and MCR frontman Gerard Way resurfaced and revealed he has contributed to an upcoming episode of children’s program The Aquabats! Super Show!.
