My Chemical Romance have reportedly found themselves in legal hot water over their theatrical stage production, with the company behind the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders seeking legal action over allegedly unauthorised lookalike uniforms worn by performers during the band’s recent Hollywood Bowl show.
According to a report from TheWrap, Pro Silver Star Ltd., which owns the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders brand, has requested a temporary restraining order and temporary injunction against the use of the costumes, along with unspecified monetary damages.

The dispute stems from MCR’s performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Wednesday, 21st October, which featured dancers dressed in cheerleader-style outfits resembling the iconic Dallas Cowboys uniforms.
But these weren’t your average pom-pom-waving cheerleaders.
As reported by Metal Injection, the performers allegedly carried rifles during a theatrical firefight sequence and were depicted being shot as part of the band’s elaborate stage production.
Pro Silver Star claims the costumes infringed upon the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders’ protected trade dress – a form of intellectual property protection covering the distinctive visual appearance of a brand or product.
The company also alleges that the resemblance was close enough to cause confusion among viewers, with some reportedly believing the performers were genuine Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.
However, the legal challenge is reportedly focused specifically on the costumes, rather than the band’s broader artistic vision.
According to TheWrap, Pro Silver Star has made clear that it is not seeking to censor My Chemical Romance’s music, political messaging, choreography or use of armed characters in the production.
Instead, the company wants the allegedly infringing uniforms removed from the disputed scenes.
The report also claims Pro Silver Star previously asked the band to stop using the costumes, but that the request was refused.
A representative for My Chemical Romance reportedly did not immediately respond to TheWrap‘s request for comment.
The dispute comes as the emo-rock icons prepare for two more Hollywood Bowl performances, scheduled for Friday, 30th October and Saturday, 31st October.
Whether the controversial costumes will make another appearance at those shows remains unclear.
At the time of reporting, it has not been confirmed whether a court has granted the requested restraining order or injunction.
The latest legal drama adds an unexpected twist to My Chemical Romance’s theatrical live era, which has seen the band embrace increasingly elaborate costumes, characters and dystopian storytelling as part of their stage performances.
For now, it remains to be seen whether the band’s cheer squad will be forced into a wardrobe change before their next Hollywood Bowl outing.
