Neil Young Vows To Continue Steve Jobs Legacy

Spinner has reported that Neil Young intends to continue support for a next generation Ipod that he and Apple founder Steve Jobs were developing.

Making an appearance at the D: Dive Into Media technology conference, Young said the two were attempting to create a device that could download high-resolution audio while the owner sleeps.

“Steve Jobs [was] a pioneer of digital music, and his legacy is tremendous. But when he went home, he listened to vinyl. And you’ve got to believe that if he’d lived long enough, he would have done what I’m trying to do,” Young said.

“It’s not that digital is bad or inferior, it’s that the way it’s being used isn’t doing justice to the art,” Young said. “The convenience of the digital age has forced people to choose between quality and convenience, but they shouldn’t have to make that choice,” he said.

Last month, Young also supported Occupy Audio, a movement which seeks to bring uncompromised high quality music back to fans.

As for Young’s own music, he has recently submitted a concept record to Reprise Records. Young described the album as, “a concept record that everybody loved because they hadn’t heard anything like it in a long time.”

Young has also recently posted a 37-minute ‘Horse Back’ jam which reportedly feature longtime backing group Crazy Horse.
