In his own classic style, Noel Gallagher stopped his Melbourne show earlier this week to reportedly call a fan a “shit magician” after they brought a bubble machine to the gig.
The former Oasis guitarist and songwriter was playing at Margaret Court Arena on Tuesday 29th March when, according to a news.com.au review, a stream of bubbles from the front row caught his attention and ire.
“Hey El Houdini. Someone actually brought a fucking bubble machine to a gig,” he said.
“You’re a magician?” he then asked, before suggesting: “Why don’t you make the fucking bubbles disappear then?”
The poor fan’s grilling didn’t end there though with Gallagher going on to ask “did you pay to get in? Or did you magic yourself through the fucking door,” adding that “if you bought a ticket you’re a shit magician.”
He gave the bubble loving concert goer a bit of respite following that, although he did bring it up again later. “If they mention in the fucking review of this gig that I had a shit bubble machine on stage you’re in fucking big trouble,” he jokingly threatened in what turns out was a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Currently on tour with his band Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, this isn’t the first hiccup on their trip down under, with the band being forced to cancel a show in New Zealand due to a delay in his equipment arriving from South America.
That’s not all though, as Noel also managed to ruffle a few feathers when The Project failed to bleep out his swearing in a prerecorded interview.
Asked about awards, Noel readily admitted his mantelpiece is “chock-a-block with the fucking things”, much to the chagrin of the producers and editors, who failed to catch the obscenity before it want to air.
Still, what would a concert tour by one of the Gallaghers be without some controversy and televised swearing?
