Hooo wow it’s been a big couple of weeks in Aussie sport, which also means, it’s also been a big couple of weeks for Australian music.
The AFL Grand Final last weekend provided a Western-Australian artist heavy couple of shows, which featured the likes of Birds of Tokyo, Baker Boy, Eskimo Joe, and more.
Tonight, the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Penrith Panthers are facing off in the 2021 NRL Grand Final at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium. As it goes with these things, the pre-game show kicked off the festivities, with a host of big names taking to the stadium to gee up the crowd.

It was (tbh) a pretty random set of stars, with the likes of Kate Miller-Heidke with Cold Chisel’s Ian Moss, the Stafford Brothers, Timmy Trumpet, Indigenous didgeridoo star William Barton and a 40-piece orchestra, coming together to kick things off.
How good! 👏🔥

As expected, fans on Twitter are divided, some were good, and some were not so good. Check out their mixed reactions below.
What time does Timmy Trumpet hit the stage? I've been shelving pingers all week waiting for this.#NRLGF

I distinctly remember using a fake ID to get into a nightclub on hindley st at 17 to see Timmy Trumpet and look at him now. They hate to see a girl boss winning https://t.co/snidG0jCix

I am absolutely stunned, to see flame trees sung and played so beautifully in context, beautifully produced with the ancient the old and the new Australian music talent going back to our first Nations Ian Moss and Kate Miller-Heidke, how glorious, thank you so much
