Perth’s newly rebranded Origin Fields festival (formerly Origin NYE) promised an absolutely massive 2018 lineup, and it first announcement is giving Western Australia some of the world’s biggest musicians right now.
At the very top of this year’s bill is Cardi B, who is easily one of the biggest rappers around, and who has enjoyed unparalleled success in the past two years. This will be Cardi’s first-ever trip to Australia, and she’s only playing one other (yet-to-be-announced) show down under.
Joining Cardi are rap hitmakers Migos, which includes Cardi’s husband Offset, as they return to the country after touring here last year.
The massive acts don’t stop there. Khalid, Pendulum, Tash Sultana, The Kooks, Duke Dumont and PNAU will also be playing the festival, joined by loads more. Check out full first lineup announcement, below.
Today’s announcement also gives us a huge clue as to who might be playing other Aussie New Year’s Eve festivals this year. Interestingly, both Cardi B and Migos’ Origin Fields sets are billed as one of two performances they’ll each be doing in Australia.
Earlier this month, Origin organisers announced the rebrand of Origin NYE to Origin Fields, including a new location and an expansion to a two-day event.
Origin Fields 2018 will be going down at Langley Reserve from Sunday, 30th to Monday, 31st December 2018. Details below.
