Paramore Admit They Tried To “Rip Off” Tame Impala On Their New Album

Tennessee rockers Paramore are gearing up to release their new album After Laughter this May and have opened up about the creative process behind the record, including just how much inspiration they took from Tame Impala.

Speaking with Beats 1‘s Zane Lowe, Paramore guitarist and songwriter Taylor York says he was listening to Kevin Parker’s tunes a lot while writing After Laughter

“I was only listening to Tame Impala so I was trying to rip off everything,” York says.

Around about 5:25 in the clip below, York also admits that despite the band’s efforts, they were unable to pull it off.

“I had to try. It didn’t work but I had to try,” he says.

The band also describe After Laughter as an album full of music that’s “very rhythmic, and very different from anything that we had written before”. Paramore dropped the first track from the album ‘Hard Times’, yesterday.

After Laughter is due out Friday, 12th May, and you can watch part of Paramore’s Beats 1 interview, below.
