Download Festival organisers have announced an expansion of the event’s 2015 celebrations, and have added an Aussie contingent consisting of Byron Bay metalcore outfit Parkway Drive and Sydney group Northlane.
The English rock event will see the two New South Wales bands represent Australia in a lineup which includes the likes of Slipknot, Muse, Kiss and Faith No More. Today, organisers have also added the likes of Billy Idol, Rise Against, metal band Lamb Of God, Californian rockers Black Veil Brides, alt-metal outfit Godsmack and Soundwave 2015 act DragonForce to the lineup.
Parkway Drive released their latest studio album Atlas in 2012, and are currently on a tour of Europe. The group last toured Australia in April, May and June for Groovin The Moo and Live It Up Festival, and are currently readying their fifth studio album for release sometime next year.
Northlane have taken to Twitter to say they’re “STOCKED” to be playing Download Festival next year. The band, who released their second album Singularity in 2013, have now teamed up with new vocalist Marcus Bridge, who features on recent single Rot.
After playing Big Day Out earlier this year, Northlane embarked on their own Australian tour. The band will play the Unify Gathering in January, and are also expected to release a new full-length recording in 2015.
Download Festival 2015 is set to take place at Donington Park in North West Leicestershire between 12th and 14th June. View the official lineup poster, below. For more information, visit the Download Festival website.
