Passion Pit frontman Michael Angelakos has announced that he will send free copies of the band’s new album Tremendous Sea Of Love to fans who retweet his support of the work of neroscientist Michael F. Wells on mental and physical health.
Over the course of February and March Passion Pit had been uploading new songs from their first album since 2015’s Kindred to the YouTube channel for Angelakos’ mental-health focused project The Wishart Group.
The songs have since been taken down, but over the past week Wells and fellow researcher Erika Siegel have been tweeting from the band’s twitter handle, answering questions about mental health and scientific research.
Angelakos, who publicly came out as gay in 2015, then announced that he’d be giving away the Tremendous Sea Of Love for free in full, and people asking questions will be rewarded with a bonus track. “If you retweet this, and spread it, reply to this tweet with your email and I’ll send you a digital copy of Tremendous Sea Of Love,” he wrote.
we’re sharing the account while he’s on the hill. ask the dude any questions, use #weneedscience — those who ask ?’s will get bonus mp3

In another tweet, Angelakos uploaded a note about the process behind the album, explaining that during his career making music he had forgotten the joys of sharing music that wasn’t over-produced and perfected to the nth degree.
“Revisions are important, but we are so good at revising, so concerned with presenting a perfect version of ourselves that we miss the point,” he says.
He goes on to say that all the songs on Tremendous Sea Of Love were “quickly rendered, or written the night before it was uploaded.
“They are not perfect, but they are honest. I wrote the album to tell myself and to tell you that you were always good enough.”
Passion Pit were forced to cancel their entire 2015 Australian album tour due to ongoing health issues suffered by Angelakos, but this new album could open the door for them return to our shores in the not too distant future.
