PREMIERE: Ben Wright-Smith – ‘No One’ Video

Melbourne singer-songwriter Ben Wright Smith got his 2015 off to a solid start with the release of his new single, No One. The track, which was co-produced by Wright Smith and Oscar Dawson of Holy Holy and features a cheeky Ali Barter BV, has now received the music video treatment, and the brand-new clip is getting its premiere right here on Music Feeds.

Directed by Tobias Willis, the No One video (below) was shot in Victoria’s Cape Patterson and Dandenong Ranges. The track’s gentle and reverberant tones are paired with footage of karate expert Cris Cochran doing his thing amongst Victoria’s natural beauty.

Wright Smith says the idea for the video came together once he found Cochran. “Toby approached me with the idea of karate and I liked it immediately,” Wright Smith says.

“The hardest part was finding the right karate guy. We both put out feelers out and amid all of the people who got back to us we eventually came across Cris Cochran. There’s something about that guy that’s so likeable… especially for someone kicking air for three and a half minutes straight.”

Wright Smith is heading out on the road later this month for an Australian tour which will take him through to mid-May. He’ll be joined by a full band in Melbourne and Sydney, and performing solo across Wagga Wagga, Newcastle, Byron Bay, Brisbane, Maroochydore and Toowoomba.

Following the tour, Wright Smith will settle into work on an album, the follow-up to his 2014 EP In Parallel. The album is due for release later this year.
