As if we needed a reminder that Chris Cornell was one of the most insanely talented vocalists of all time. But look, here’s one anyway.
Consequence Of Sound have posted a snippet of the grunge legend’s isolated vocals from Soundgarden‘s iconic 1994 Superunknown cut ‘Black Hole Sun’ and HO.LY.HELL.
Though hardly his most mind-blowing performance in terms of range, ‘Black Hole Sun’ showcases all of the incredible nuances of Cornell’s dynamite pipes as he glides seamlessly between throat-tearing intensity and crooning warmth from one bar to the next.
The lyric “No one sings like you anymore” feels heartbreakingly appropriate here.
RIP.
