CONTENT WARNING: The following article discusses abuse allegations

Guitarist Joe Hansen is no longer a member of Private Function.

In a statement posted to social media, the Melbourne pub-punk act announced that “Joe Hansen has been removed from Private Function effective immediately”.

“We have a responsibility to our community to hold perpetrators accountable for their actions and to actively oppose the culture that fosters abuse,” the band’s statement continued.

PF have declined to publicise any of the details surrounding the allegations against Hansen, clarifying: “We will always believe survivors and want to stress that their privacy must be respected”.

They concluded: “A reminder to all that Support Act, 1800 RESPECT or Lifeline on 13 11 14 is available to those who may need it.”

The band have yet to announce who will be replacing Hansen on guitar duties for their upcoming ‘Miracle on 69th Street’ Christmas Show in Melbourne, which will see them hit the stage alongside Press Club, Blonde Revolver, DJ sets by Camp Cope‘s Georgia Maq and Cable Ties, and live Aussie pro-wrestlers.
