Supergroup Prophets Of Rage have kept it two for two in 2019, with the release of the brand new, politically charged scorcher ‘Pop Goes The Weapon’.
This new track comes after Tom Morello gave an update on the band’s highly anticipated new album last week, saying that it would define who the band is “in 2019 and beyond.”
In a statement, the band described how the song directly addresses the staggering amount of gun-related deaths in America, and the lack of reform put in place by the sitting government.
“‘Pop Goes The Weapon’ reflects the ongoing gun violence happening in America,” the statement reads.
“Guns are both the subject of religious worship AND huge profits in the United States. Combined with emboldened white nationalism the recent epidemic of massacres is little surprise. ‘Pop Goes The Weapon’ channels our “thoughts & prayers” through Marshall stacks & microphones.”
The song follows up previous single ‘Made With Hate’, which dropped back in June.
