Today’s Record Roundup features a slew of homegrown talent, including a new EP from Melbourne Ska champs The Bennies, a new single and the debut EP from 18-year old Adelaide rapper Tkay Maidza, and the unveiling of the lead single from Victorian pop outfit Twerps’ upcoming EP.
The Bennies – Heavy Disco EP
The Bennies made the front page of the internet earlier this week by introducing the world to photobonging but don’t let such hilarious exploits overshadow the band’s ability to crank out sweet tunes. The Melbourne crew will digitally release their new EP, Heavy Disco, on Tuesday, 11th November.
Its release coinciding with the band’s first Australian support gig for NOFX, Heavy Disco will contain five tracks recorded to capture the energy the heavy-touring Bennies bring to the road. Heavy Disco is set for vinyl release on Friday, 16th January 2015, just over a month before The Bennies tour the country, again, as part of Soundwave 2015.
To remind yourselves of what The Bennies have to offer, get reacquainted with this cut from their 2013 album Rainbows In Space.

Pop quartet Twerps have released Back To You, the lead single from upcoming album Range Anxiety, out Friday, 23rd January 2015. Back To You’s accompanying music video sees director Johann Rashid set Twerps’ infectious music track to scenes of everyday suburbia.
Back To You is currently available through iTunes, Chapter Music, and Chapter Music bandcamp. Back To You will also be released on 7″ vinyl, which will feature the non-album B-side Always Waiting. That will be available in early November through Merge.
