Record Store Day Australia 2018: First Releases Announced

The good people in charge of Record Store Day Australia have announced the first batch of limited edition vinyl that’ll be going up for grabs for the annual event on 21st April.

One big highlight of this year’s crop (so far) is Courtney Barnett, who’ll be dropping a 12″ featuring a brand new track dubbed ‘City Looks Pretty’ — a song all about the quirks of life on the road — as well as the tune ‘Sunday Roast’ from her forthcoming second album Tell Me How You Really Feel.

Another is a release from Sigur Rós, who’ve gathered four rare and unreleased recordings dubbed ‘Route One’, ‘Liminal Remixes’, ‘Untitled’ and ‘All Animals’ onto a disc with unique handmade sleeves from Icelandic artist Sigga Bjorg.

Elsewhere, Robert Smith has remastered The Cure’s 1990 remix album Mixed Up and will release it for the first time as a Double Picture Disc, while a compilation album of unreleased ’70s porn music featuring voiceovers from adult film legend Ron Jeremy, dubbed Pornosonic, is bound to have punters feeling excited.

There’s also plenty of music making its debut or getting reissued on vinyl from the likes of Eurythmics, Shaggy, The Police and more.
