The Red Hot Chili Peppers will tour Australia in 2012 on the back of their new album I’m With You, Flea has confirmed. The band are currently playing shows around the world and Flea found the time to catch up with Australian radio station, Triple M, backstage at the MTV Europe Video Awards in Northern Ireland last week. Flea was asked when the Red Hot Chili Peppers would be coming to Australia and he confirmed it would be in 2012 saying:
We are coming, I looked at my tour schedule and it’s there next year. I don’t know the dates, I’m sorry, but we are coming. Without doubt, we will come … and rock … like untethered beasts
The last time the Chili Peppers visited Australia was for the 2007 Stadium Arcadium Tour, which saw long-time bedroom guitar genious, John Frusciante, on centre stage while current guitarist Josh Klinghoffer was playing as a session guitarist.
John left the band in 2010 saying:
To put it simply, my musical interests have led me in a different direction. A couple of years ago, I began to feel excitement again, but this time it was about making a different kind of music, alone, and being my own engineer.
