The blogopshere can finally rest today following the confirmation from the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ camp that the band will be returning to our shores early 2013.
Despite ‘locking in’ an Australian tour for this year, it’s looking like a safe bet that the band will be in town first thing next year. Scheduled to coinside with the next Big Day Out? well, nothing confirmed yet, but it’s looking really good, as the band has been on the top of rumour lists for some time now.
For those who have been paying attention, the news, albeit totally amazing, is not such a surprise after the Chili Willies headlined Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza – two projects already managed by C3 Promotions, the company working behind the scenes of BDO 2013.
The current buzz surrounding the announcement stems from a tweet by bassist and ex-patriot Flea, who tweeted:
@OzzieJimPerth yes, we are coming to australia early next year, can’t wait to feel the connection to my birthplace once again
— Flea (@flea333) May 29, 2012
And if that’s not enough goss for the diehard RHCP fans, you’ll be pleased to know that a reporter for Vulture Magazine believes he has tracked down the exact bridge documented in the classic track Under the Bridge, apparently where Anthony Kiedis ‘drew some blood’, though the band and their people have never confirmed nor denied the location of the bridge. Take a goosey gander at the article; did they discover ground zero for The Red Hot Chili Peppers?
Keep those ears and eyes pealed for more updates on the tour; it’s a show you don’t want to miss!
