Red Hot Chili Peppers To Begin Work On New Album In September

We want chilly willy! And that’s what we’re gonna get, according to Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, who has confirmed that the enduring Californian rockers will be back in the studio to start work on studio album number 11 this September.

RHCP are currently on a world tour in support of 2011’s I’m With You, with Smith telling Billboard that when that wraps up, they’ll get straight back into writing new material:

“We’re probably looking at getting together in September and getting on a roll and starting to write songs for the next record. We always have little ideas percolating in jams and rehearsal warm-ups and soundchecks and gigs.

“Sometimes we bust into stuff… We just kind of play whatever, so we always have those little tidbits. But we don’t have any fully-formed songs until the four of us get in a room together. That’s when the real writing process starts. So, yeah, we’re looking at the fall.”

The Chili Peppers have been touring solid for the last 18 months, coming our way for the Big Day Out, headlining Coachella in California and even playing for the Dalai Lama in Portland last month.
