Regurgitator have released their first new non-children’s music in six years, sharing the lead single from their forthcoming 11th studio album Invader. The Brisbane veterans have collaborated with Canadian shock-rocker Peaches for the first time for the track ‘This Is Not A Pop Song’. The two acts first met in 2002 when they both performed at that year’s Big Day Out, with Peaches joining the band on stage to perform her song ‘Rock Show’ during the festival run.
“Pop was the baby I meant to leave on the doorstep of the orphanage, but whose wailing pierced my heart – coercing me into the servitude of unplanned parenthood,” said frontman Quan Yeomans in a press statement.
“It was one short amnesia after another, one more return to Oz, one more glance across the cabin of a crowded train to meet the eyes of a stranger just long enough to allow a tentative exchange of knowing smiles, only to then reach my stop and be spewed out onto the platform in a sluice of my fellow commuters.”
Peaches, for her part, shared the following statement regarding the song: “Excited to be a part of this non-sensical not-pop-but-pop gold!”

Invader, which is set for release on Friday April 26th, serves as the official follow-up to 2018’s Headroxx. Since then, the band have released their ARIA-nominated children’s album The Really Really Really Really Boring Album, which was released under the moniker Regurgitator’s Pogogo Show.
The band also toured last year to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their breakthrough album Unit, with support from DZ Deathrays, Custard and Butterfingers, and played KISS‘ final-ever Sydney show alongside Weezer and The Delta Riggs.
2023 also saw the band’s two main songwriters, Yeomans and bassist Ben Ely, each release new solo material. The former shared the Night Cream EP under the mononym QUAN, marking his first solo release in 13 years. The latter, meanwhile, shared a new studio album titled Zargon Oscillator Prose in November with his backing band The Mungo Fungo Band.
The band will support the release of Invader with the It’s So Invasive national Australian tour in mid-2024, with support coming from Sydney duo Party Dozen and Melbourne’s Cry Club on most dates.
Peaches, meanwhile, was last in Australia in the first quarter of 2023 on a national tour to belatedly commemorate the 20th anniversary of her 2000 album The Teaches of Peaches. She performed at that year’s Mona Foma, as well as two sold-out shows at Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre where she was joined on-stage by Amyl & The Sniffers frontwoman Amy Taylor during ‘Fuck The Pain Away’.
